And that perception is exactly why I'm not giving away any free ebooks during that week. I think there are or should be more creative ways to create hype around ebooks besides giving them away. Then there's also those who take advantage of the free give aways and put the books on their own websites as well like that other pirate did. So....any thoughts on what we should do before and during that week? We didn't know about it until we were altered to the site, http://www.ebookweek.com/ which is very informative, especially if you are interested in finding more about ereader devices. So are we going to see even more digital noise, claims and hype before the week? How do we generate interest? The market needs some clear substance and the most obvious booktrade response will be to give away loads of free books, or heavily discounted ones. Will this do the trick - we doubt it, as it only goes to cement the perception that digital should be free full stop. http://www.ebookweek.com/ http://bookseller-association.blogspot.com/2009/02/read-ebook-week.html Joseph Harris - Debt Control Man author: Control Your Debt Crisis on Your Own Terms blog: http://debtcontrolman.wordpress.com site: http://www.controlyourdebtcrisis.co.uk wiki: http://www.controlyourdebtcrisis.co.uk/debtwiki/ ezine: debtcrisisnews-subscribe-81qHHgoATdGiZAWpSjG6+Rq5H0TW4eMuLld22O+yBnhaa/[email protected] _________________________________________________________________ More than messagescheck out the rest of the Windows Live. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowslive/ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ Post a message: ebook-community [[at]] * Unsubscribe: ebook-community-unsubscribe [[at]] * Switch to digest: ebook-community-digest [[at]] * Switch to normal: ebook-community-normal [[at]] * Put mail on hold: ebook-community-nomail [[at]] * Administrator: ebook-community-owner [[at]] * (* == yahoogroups.com) -------------------------------------------------------Yahoo!
