This is true, but I also spend time volunteering in the schools. I  
spend more time in the primary school here than in the middle school,  
but the kids seem more enthusiastic. Last year, they offered an iPod  
for the 7th grader who won had the most AR points. My daughter who got  
several hundred wasn't even in the running. I'm still hoping. If I  
have the time though, I might contact the AR people and see what kind  
of statistics they have on reading trends.
