Hi All from Anne in Southern California

So glad I found this Yahoo Group!  I am on other Yahoo Groups - it is sure a great way to learn. I have a cookbook, my Pumpkin cookbook, almost ready to become an eBook and start selling it. I have had major problems with it - it is a re-edit from a book I actually typeset and pasted up back in the 80s before we had computers. So I figured it would be easier with the computer. And in some ways it is. But I used MS Word to input everything as I couldn't think of any other software to use. What a pain. I had almost all my photos in and suddenly they all turned into big red Xs!!!  That is right, I ran out of memory before I realized there were limitations!!!  And I have been using MS Word for years and years, so I thought I knew the system backwards and forwards.
 
To solve the problem I split the book into 5 parts, and now things are working better, at least Part 1 - 4 seem ok. I am still putting photos back into Part 5 and then have to do the recipe index, which is part 5, and I got the page numbers straightened out ok.  I do know how to turn the docs into a PDF doc, but not how to join them once I do. And then too, if I am going to sell it online, I need to know how to fix it so that people have to pay before they get the downloadable file, and also is there someway to protect the PDF format so that it can't be tampered with - at least not without more work than I have done so far???
 
Yes, I DO have a good sense of humor, and determination, thank heavens or I would have run out into the street screaming and pulling out all my hair. Oh wait, I DID run out into the street . . . (chuckles).
 
Anyway, you have met me now. This E-book stuff is just too much fun. Today I have been making another blog specifically for selling my E-books since I have others waiting to be redone. Thank heavens this is the ONLY cookbook!!!  How many times can you type "Salt to Taste" without losing it?  And pray tell, how else would you salt something?  I love it when recipes have called for 1/4 tsp. of salt. Haven't you ever wondered why?  I have made them with and without the salt, and never noticed a difference. Perhaps it is just for good luck. Well, I could sure use that. In my book, there is NONE of that stuff. I figure that all people who know how to cook must be intelligent, and have figured out that recipes are pretty much the same from recipe to recipe as far as the call for salt, and actually some pretty other silly terms that cookbook writers use that absolutely make me laugh. 
 
So my blog site is www.greengrass-studio.blogspot.com, and true to everything else that has happened along the way, it is actually supposed to be www.sweetgrass-studio.blogspot.com but I was tired when I was doing it, and so needless to say, the site address is one thing, and the name is something else. I think it will be ok though. I am tired of messing with it. I used one of those beautiful specialty templates - actually a GOLD rated one!  And guess what?  I had to edit the HTML code in order to make changes that normally I could make in the regular more boring templates that you can find to pick from right on www.blogspot.com. It still looks the same to me after all that work too. Well, soon enough there will be other things on there to think about besides how pretty it is.
 
So now you have met me. I have other books waiting to be revised and turned into eBooks and hopefully in THIS lifetime!  I am so looking forward to meeting all of you and hearing (or I should say reading) your stories of the nightmares on eBook street, and maybe, just maybe, some good stuff along the way too.
