EPUB software

Hi all, I'm interested in self publishing my own work,novels,short stories,and so forth on my own web site. Have done so in print,but realize the necessity to ebook them. I believe EPUB is the way to go and need to know what software is, (1) easy for my straight narrative work ,(2) is relatively cheap, and (3)works with Micrsosoft doc or txt files. Any thoughts or experiences with EPUB software would be helpful. I tried ECub but couldn't seem to kae it work. Thanks in advance.
