What a ridiculously vague petition. Can anyone explain the point of it? What change is that group looking for? And who is the "Copyright Alliance"? (Sorry, I didn't read the previous messages in this string carefully enough.) If they wanted to get rid of Digital Rights Management and cut back the copyright term to something logical and reasonable, I'd be all for that. Also, if they wanted to have different terms for books, movies, music, and software (because they are very different kinds of products involving very different kinds of investments) that would be great. But the tone of the petition seems headed in the opposite direction. Like you, I am appalled by the efforts of those with vested interests which attempt to expand the scope of copyright beyond the constitutional recommendation to grant limited monopolies only to the degree necessary to "promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts." You can be assured that I will contact my congressional delegation and encourage them to resist caving in to the efforts of special interest organizations like the Copyright Alliance. Thank you again. ------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ Post a message: ebook-community [[at]] * Unsubscribe: ebook-community-unsubscribe [[at]] * Switch to digest: ebook-community-digest [[at]] * Switch to normal: ebook-community-normal [[at]] * Put mail on hold: ebook-community-nomail [[at]] * Administrator: ebook-community-owner [[at]] * (* == yahoogroups.com) -------------------------------------------------------Yahoo!
