This is an overgeneralisation. Anyone who makes a living by selling new
material is going to be doing their damndest to limit public access to
the vast amounts of older, cheaper, sometimes better material that they
don't control. This is why traditional publishers are fighting so hard
against any loosening of copyright, in fact or in law. If you control
supply, you control price.
