Steps of creating ebook ?

Hi everyone,

I'm very new here. I've been researching for sometime now about the steps of creating an ebook. What i had now is this:

1. Prepare the manuscript in MS Words
2. Prepare the cover using any graphic programs
3. Convert the manuscript to any popular ebook format
4. Start distributing/selling 

I had some questions:

- Am i missing anything important?
- Is there any programs that can layout manuscript besides MS Words?

Oh and if my questions are already discussed before please just send me to the right direction. :)
