Thank you for the comment, and in part I refer you to my post to Marion.

I am partly thinking out loud with this and the question is not what we have all taken for granted, but what are the real rights of the holder under copyright law. To what extent can a rightsowner or holder set terms, and, in any case, is it true that a purchaser does have the right under that law to sell on. Or is it in fact a long-standing convention?
