My ebook novel (Shadows) is also priced at the $5 mark on Amazon.
There are loads of novels that are selling at very low prices.
JA Konrath is selling some of his ebook novels as low as $2.

$5 ebooks are very much on the table. Lots and lots of ebooks at that  

price point, and even lower, are around.



(Hey, even my own recent release, The Profitable Publisher, is priced  

at $4.99 on the Kindle and elsewhere. Of course, it's a little less  

than 50 page-equivalents long, but it's also emphatically not mass- 

market!)
