Chris, This raises the most difficult set of problems in the matter ;-). There is not agreement on the definition of 'ebook'. In fact it is hard to devise a truly inclusive definition. While the term is coming to be more focussed on device formats, these are much more like manuscripts! There has also been a longterm attempt to deny that the pdf is an ebook, yet for the bells and whistles versions it is a perfect carrier. I remain puzzled by epub; while there have been some significant early adopters, I still see it as having too many limitations; chief among them reports of technical detail difficulties. The boggest problem in discovering main delivery points for all kinds of ebooks is how one would even plan the collection of figures. And does one want to diferentiate between paid and free and in breach of and conforming to copyright ? ;-). At the same time, and I think the point of the original question, it would be helpful to identify important revenue streams for writers and publishers.
