I have been reading eBooks for many years.

First on a PocketPC and now nearly 2 years on the iPhone.

 

I fly more than 6,000 miles each week.

There are an increasing number of Kindles in airports and on planes.

 

The only time you have to turn off the electronic device is between closing
the doors and 10 minutes after takeoff plus 10 minutes before landing.

It's irritating but I have learned to live with it. Beats carrying paper
books.

 

OTOH,

In South Africa, the Civil Aviation Authority completely misunderstands
electronic devices, transmitting, and flight mode.

Consequently, South African Airways has a complete ban on all electronic
devices.

Passengers may not read books, listen to music, or watch video on their
electronic devices.

I wrote the CAA about three weeks ago with copies to everyone.

So far I've heard back from South African Airways and Amazon.

 

 

 

 

When I am traveling, my messages and answers tend be short.
