Actually, I agree that there is a disagreement between NY CONGLOMERATE
publishers and the bulk of pirates. An important distinction, I believe.
But, even if NY conglomerate press took its collective head out of the sand
and started doing things right (in my opinion), that would only account for
about 3 of my 7 types of pirates. One additional one are the ones that need
education, because they are misinformed or clueless but would stop if they
knew it was illegal. The rest (the other three...maybe some of a fourth)
would STILL pirate, because their reasons for doing so have nothing to do
with what the publishers are doing. They will pirate, no matter what
accomodations are made for them, because that's what they do.

FWIW, I don't find conglomerate press argumentative. I find them
non-responsive and shortsighted. Shrug. They are also non-responsive to
readers, which leads to some readers becoming pirates. And it's a shame they
are like that, since they have the established indies to draw market
information from. They do it for some things but not for ebooks, which
indies BUILT.

To be blunt, some pirates will look for any justification they can find.
Seriously... I had one pirate try to tell me he should be allowed to do
anything he wanted, because he was a war veteran. On behalf of my husband,
two brothers, dozens of cousins, all but one of my uncles, father, and just
about every man in my family I can name from then back (all of whom are war
veterans)...I was highly offended that he was using honorable service
to justify what I consider to be dishonorable acts. There's just no
reasoning with some pirates.
