The music industry is an odd bird. On the one hand, overall sales of CDs are down, a lot. On the other hand, there has never been so much music available. With bands and artists selling directly, and with many small labels flourishing, the sales drop is affecting major labels, who make the most noise. It's interesting to note that classical music is in a golden age: again, sales are down for the majors, but there are dozens if not hundreds of small labels doing wonderful things.
