I replied to this earlier, but after thinking, I realized that you're mighty closed-minded. You don't know anything about worldwide rights, but you pretend you do know everything. You live in the US, where you don't need to know such things, but you think you understand all the subtleties of publishing. You should learn to accept that, in some cases, other people may know things you don't.
