Would you kindly read what I wrote completely for once, Joseph? I
swear you have lost your mind this week. I never said the US WASN'T a
Berne country. I was answering the concern that a lot of pirate sites
are located in countries that are not Berne countries and are
therefore hard to deal with (or impossible to), and while I may not be
able to touch them, when sites are found that are tucked away in other
places, you can STILL go after the pirates that reside in Berne
countries (yes, the US included here) but are using sites outside the
Berne (in the mistaken belief that it makes them "safe" somehow). 90%
of pirates do not realize how wide a lane of information about
themselves they leave on the net, which works to the favor of law
enforcement, if you can get them to do anything at all.

I had been thinking of the general trend of the early parts of the thread. I'm sorry if you feel offended - there was certainly no intention. 

I also bear in mind that there are those who follow these discussions and those who will read them in the archives, and it is far less clear to many that Berne is signed by the US. Copyright is little understood, and  - for very good reasons - there are usually at least two aspects in almost every discussion, which may get confused. If you read the previous three or four posts, and then your comment, you will see that it is possible to assume that 'Berne countries' are elsewhere!

So, no, I haven't lost my mind, nor do I fail to read what you write. I just never assume that anything is clear to all readers. I often find that many who attack copyright don't really understand what copyright is and how it applies. It worries me, and I maybe have developed a teacher's pose ;-). [Or revived my sub-editing skills.]
