Attributor Study Suggests Honey Subdues More Infringers Than Vinegar

[This is a very interesting study, with some pointers for ways to go. It is, however, far less than it claims. Worst, for me, is that its two used stages in the trial are honey and vinegar, and there is no success rate quoted for them individually. I do not know how well the honey approach did from the information supplied, except it was less than 75% successful. That could mean honey worked 1% of the time or 74%. But read all three pieces for yourself and decide how it adds to your knowledge. I have certainly read frequently of a friendly note working well - as frequently of frustration in dealing with infringement.]

Yes, we thought so. But you pessimists are in for a surprise.

Attributor, the fast-rising piracy monitoring service, has released an intriguing report on what it calls a Graduated Response Trial, though it might well be termed the Try A Little Tenderness Test. While it was performed on newspapers, the implications for book piracy are apparent.
