I have been reading Kindle books on my iPhone for 2.5 years.
Before reading came to the iPhone, I read for years on my pocket PC.

In deciding which way to go you should consider hardware, software and content.
The iPhone is a multifunction device.
You do not have to carry a dedicated reader.
Amazon supplies the software and the content.
Amazon is said by many to be the easiest system to use.
