Just one note. Do remember that not all authors get paid for library loans.
US authors do not get a thin dime, and that's unlikely to change anytime
soon. That puts them at a distinct disadvantage in this situation.

Personally, I didn't think the caps on ebook lends were unreasonable when
Fictionwise presented them in 2004, because it builds in wear and tear,
which doesn't exist in ebooks as it does in paper books. Eventually, paper
books in libraries will wear out. In fact, some popular books will last less
than a year, since they are checked out at all times and have waiting lists
on them.

Should the limits be higher? Maybe so. Should ebook lending be unlimited?
No. Not in my opinion. If I fight to keep pirate sites from sharing my books
illegally with thousands of people per copy, why would I give blanket
permission for a library to do it?
