Re: ePub and Kindle formatting tips

Sorry, I am not familiar with the Smashwords style guide.

I had noticed several authors asking for assistance in creating ebooks 
on a couple of different lists and offered a method of creating 
reasonably formatted ePub and Kindle files with Free tools. I believe I 
did mention the necessity for tweaking.

Calibre will take a basic ePub file and convert it to Kindle format. 
Calibre is a very useful tool. Calibre will accept twenty different 
formats and has the capability to convert them into sixteen different 
formats.

A nice feature of Sigil is the fact that you can actually edit the ePub 
file. Both Sigil and Calibre are free.

OpenOffice and LibreOffice are also free.

Personally, I start with an ePub generated from InDesign CS4, but 
InDesign is not free and the InDesign generated ePub file also needs 
tweaking.
