Re: Warning As Children Shun Books In Favour Of Facebook

I must just have really good luck with the younger crowd. Not just my own
kids, but also children of readers of my work. My newest Facebook "friend"
(well, I actually know this one, oddly enough) is an 18 y/o guy from VA. I
can track this particular thread. The original readers were two women in
their 40s and 50s. The son of one and daughter of the other...both teens
started reading my books. This latest friend is a mutual friend of the two
teens. Since both told him he had to try my work, he's now hooked. It's
interesting to watch the ripples spread as people tell me who brought them
into the circle of reading my books.

One funny note. One of the boys has failed English twice so far, but he's
devoured my books. He fails English, not because he hates reading. He fails
English, because he dislikes writing for any reason but pure enjoyment. He
aspires to be a published author someday, but he doesn't like writing
assigned work that doesn't interest him for class. Sigh.
