Thanks, Brenna, for recommending Smashwords.  I see you're right, they give
an option for the reader to set the price.  Barnes & Noble no longer
accepts distribution for books that don't have fixed prices, but that's not
much of a surprise.

I must say I'm underwhelmed by Smashwords' site appearance as well as book
selection - what I browsed was very, very amateurish.  Nevertheless, it
seems to be recommended across the Internet.

If you mean a donation model, Smashwords has (or had last time I checked)
that option.
