[There is a lot of information on this page, based on the Aptara Survey
of Publishing Professionals. Some 1300 publishers gave views; how deep
that goes into small and self publishers I don't know. Note under one
fifth have ebook sales above 10%. The median point (th middle
publisher) seems to be 2% of sales are ebook, while almost as many have
no sales as have over 10%. These are revenue percentages. Amazon
accounts for nearly 40% of these sales, while own sites account for a
hefty quarter. They appear to work with only six ebook distribution
channels. The high conversion of print to ebooks - nearly half release
more than half their books - suggests that revenues for ebooks in no way
reflect the reported overall share of the market for ebooks (raising
interesting questions about the figures bandied about.). Creful note
should be taken of the production of enhanced ebooks, and the perceived
challenges.]
