[While, together, these three stories are encouraging to writers and
publishers the interpretations offered are so full of holes you can
strain potatoes through them! The first one is a report on survey; the
results must be viewed with the ususal caution for any survey. The
second shows that legal remedies can be effective. The third mistakes
the use of mathematical equations for a proof of inputs - but GIGO still
applies. The total of article and comments is amusing and helps clarify.
All three aid understanding of current piracy and arguments used.]

   * Study finds piracy withering against legal alternatives

'...No more than four per cent of the age groups surveyed would
countenance uploading, and that dropped to zero for those over 65.
Barely ten per cent said that the majority of their media collection
came from pirated material. While all survey data is subject to legal
bias, this does suggest that people like being on the right side of the
law....'

   * Dutch clog up The Pirate Bay (again)

   This time, we mean it

<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"

'...A Dutch court has ordered two popular ISPs to block access to The
Pirate Bay, or face fines of EUR10,000 a day.....'

'...Simon van Meygaarden has demonstrated mathematically that for every
$1000 of potential to be made by an authorized content provider, only
$1.40 ends up in the pocket of an unauthorized user....'
