Google agrees to opt-in - in France

[Googlespin makes the fight over scanning look as though everyone else

is being unreasonable. However, the story, which Google tries to hide,
is that Google has conceded the most important point: that authors and
publishers *opt in* to scanning. All those who worked to prevent Google
being contemptuous of Copyright Law can take satisfaction in seeing the
turning tide to which each one has made a contribution. We may hourly
expect Google to tell Justice Chin that is accepts what most people,
including Chin, have been telling it to do.]
