I created an e-book publication schedule--similar to the publication schedules for print books--because I could not find one online. Before I post it on my web site and a few other places I thought I'd share this calendar with other members of this group just to make sure I  have not overlooked anything. Any feedback would be appreciated.

AN E-BOOK PUBLICATION CALENDAR:
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO PUBLISH ONLINE

1. Reserve a URL and develop a web site to generate pre-publication interest.

2. Develop a Facebook page and sign up with Pinterest and Twitter

3. Hire a professional book designer. The cover is the book's most important advertisement.

4. Hire a professional book editor. 

5. Pick a publication date that is at least 3-4 months after the e-book is actually available

6. Secure permissions if necessary

7. Decide on a price

8. Develop a marketing plan that you can implement as soon as e-books are available.

9. Write a press release and compile a list of potential reviewers 

10. Although it is not mandatory (except for I-Books), purchase at least one ISBN ($150) so you can track sales. Do not use anyone else's ISBN. 

11. Hire an e-book formatter and select an e-book aggregator. Currently Kindle's Select program is the most popular because the overwhelming majority of e-book sales are made through Kindles. Be aware that Kindle's KDP service requires that you wait three months before you can sell it on Nooks, IPads, and Kobos.

12. Complete an ABI form (Advance Book Information) and send it to R. R.Bowker and Baker & Taylor. Go to www.myidentifiers.com and see "My Account" 

13. Complete a copyright registration form and send a finished e-book to the Library of Congress

14. Send either the e-book or advance galleys to any magazines or trade journals you believe might review your book. At the present time trade papers like Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and School Library Journal will not review self-published e-books.

15. Establish an Amazon account

16. Implement a direct e-mail campaign to potential customers

17. Arrange any speaking engagements
