Hi Brenna,

I agree, the shelves on the nook are wonderful! But they do not, as far as
I can see, sync to the nook app, the "nook for pc" software, or the www
store bookshelf, or at least they don't sync from my nook 1e, so everything
else is still cluttered. Maybe someday the shelves will sync, or maybe they
sync from the newer nooks?

You're right that the nook itself has a search function and so does the
nook for pc and the nook app. It's just the www store bookshelf that
doesn't allow search. (You can use the browser find function to search the
page, but you can't display more than 60 books on the page.) Also, contrary
to what I wrote, the "nook for pc" software does sync archive settings with
everything else. I swear it didn't yesterday, but it's working fine today!

As I was experimenting, I learned that it is MUCH easier to archive books
from the nook app than from the "nook for pc" software or from the store
library. You still have to archive one book at a time, but it is easier to
tap the right buttons and the refresh is faster. So it seems the best merge
management strategy is

* to put on shelves--use nook device itself
* to archive--use nook app
* to search--use anything but store bookshelf

Too many books = good problem to have, really.
