If you haven't yet merged your Fictionwise and Barnes & Noble bookshelves,
you may not want to, at least not if you own a nook "1st edition" (the
first nook model).

Apparently, if you have too many books on your BN shelf, whether or not the
books have been archived, you can no longer sync your nook 1e with your BN
shelf. The sync process times out after a certain number of titles.  At
least, that's the reason identified by other nook 1e owners who can no
longer sync. To solve the problem, you have to delete titles until the sync
starts working again.

Newer nooks don't have the same problem, I've heard.
