Re: length/price questions

I agree. Much depends on the marketing you do.  I attended an Amazon  
seminar at BEA last year and several authors talked about e-book successes. It  
was the consensus that about $4.95 works best for novels, regardless of  
size.  Size is not so much the issue as getting known.  AND e-books  are a great 
way to get the buzz out there that will help build your  career. I'd 
approach this project as a way to build exposure for your next  book or the 
paperback version of this book when it comes out in re-release.

As a reader (though not in your niche), I prefer a low-priced intro to  a
series, and I don't feel exploited by paying more for the rest. I  don't
think I would pay $9.99 for a self-published book by someone I'd  never
heard of, no matter how long it was. So I agree that your second  option is
better. Those who actually write and sell books might know  better, though.
