Sandra,

Thank you for your two replies.

"Remove period" - shows how long it is since I did any html! Thanks.
I've gone a different way for now, but it will be good for my next
complex book [don't ask]. The reason for this was I wanted an
automatically generated list for the TOC including Cover, title and so
on, as well as h1s and h2s [and don't ask what Sigil did to that
original formatting!]. Oh, all right, it was my fault for being too
fancy! :-)

Funnily enough the id pure number is working, though I didn't intend to
do that - the illustration list has its letter :-) .

The epub 2 v 3 was about the visiblity element in 3; but that was a
never ending problem. And then I found some very odd comments on it,
which suggested it was optimistic to use it. But, on top of that I
couldn't get display: none; to work. That all looks like the incorrectly
present full stop! And I'm not relishing too much coding, so hoping
Sigil would solve all ills...

Talk about rusty.

Thanks again Sandra, you've solved my concerns.
