Re: TIPM Publishing Service Index tracks fall of KDP, rise in CreateSpace, Smashwords

For those looking for the earlier versions, this started out being called the 
"POD Index", and was for a period also called the "Self Publishing Index".

As far as I can tell from their descriptions, it is based on reviews, feedback, 
and comments - likely at their site and possibly in their email, but that part 
is less clear.

It's reasonable to use that information to build an overall picture of the 
industry and the companies active within it, but ... well, let's just say that 
I think 5 digits of precision for the purposes of a business ranking might be 
rather hard to justify based on those inputs.

It does look like they are trying to represent some of the same benefits that 
accrue from having stock exchange index values. To really do that though, they 
need to understand the high degree of transparency those stock exchange index 
values have. Anyone in the stock market can calculate the index values for 
themselves, something that does not seem to be possible here.
