My view is first to research the market, and know how to get to your target
audience and how you're going to give them what they need. if you haven't
got that you may as well just figure you're ready for the fun of it, which
is OK but you need to consider the difference.

An e book is not all that hard to put up, there is very little cost. amazon
you can give it away for a short period of time and see if that generates
some movement and positive comments.
To do well in either print or e book nearly without exception you need to
market like crazy. If you don't it is most reasonable to expect that few if
any will discover even the best of creations.
