I think it's funny that people here who won't admit the authenticity of the Playboy Japan interview with Pynchon are the same people who disagree with what he had to say in the interview, i.e., people who in this forum consistently read Pynchon as a neocon supporter of global capital and right-wing nationalist politics in the Reagan-Bush-Bush line. Rewriting Pynchon's portrayal of the Father of Our Country in a way that would lend "respect" to the US Presidency as practiced by Bush Jr. is pretty hilarious, too, but impressive as well in the way that watching a sideshow contortionist at work is always impressive.
