I agree. I think the suggestion is that the "interview" was conducted a couple of months earlier than that. It occurs to me that if Pynchon did want to see his opinions in print he'd have ensured that what he said was rather more coherent and comprehensive, and that the text actually reached other audiences besides Japanese aficionados of soft core pornography. That's leaving aside the question of whether what has been transcribed does in fact correspond in any way with stated opinions of his, of course.
