Re: Negative Liberties

Got a few positive reactions offlist (even
off-offlist) as well, so, glad to have aggravated my
carpal tunnel/arthritis/whatever not for naught, for
once (?).  Am spiralling around that Patell book, so
I'm not sure what I've missed yet, but the only
disappointment there is how little there is on Mason &
Dixon.  Perhaps Pynchon's novel was published too late
for Patell to have dealt with it in any detail before
his own book was put to press.  Despite Negative
Liberties having been published last year, my
understanding is that there's often a bit of hang time
on that trajectory from finished manuscript to
published book, esp. in academic publishing.  But well
worth reading, nonetheless, esp. on, so far, V.  And
I'm even less qualified to comment on the Morrison
commentary, so ... so now I've got to check with a(n)
NYU friend in the dept., see if she knows him ...
