     I still think "Vineland" would be the best , but there are many other 
interesting authors mentioned . Melville , right ,  and I'm very grateful to 
Monica for mentioning the most interesting Soviet writer Bulgakov . In his 
"Master and Margarita" you may find a lot of Pynchon related material .
