An excellent overview of the potential of SOA for eLearning is being undertaken at the UK JISC http://standards.edna.edu.au/idea/summer2005/ppt/OTF20050209_scottwilson.ppt Another good example of this approach is the Dynamic Adaptive Leaning Environments (DALE) as noted on the LEAD project http://kelvin.ou.edu/cise.pdf where web services and workflow with portals allows new tools which " places the student in an inquiry-based environment where he or she can explore new ideas by creating entirely new pathways and tools." The LEAD project also plans "to democratize the availability of advanced weather technologies for research and education, lowering the barrier to entry, empowering application in a distributed context...." Google mashups are another good example of the power of SOA technology for education in linking various services together with web services and work flow http://lists.canarie.ca/pipermail/news/2005/000115.html -- BSA] ------------------------------------- To SUBSCRIBE: send a blank e-mail message to [email protected] To UNSUBSCRIBE: send a blank email message to [email protected] ------------------------------------- These news items and comments are mine alone and do not necessarily reflect those of the CANARIE board or management. ----------- [email protected] www.canarie.ca/~bstarn skype: pocketpro SkypeIn: +1 614 441-9603 _______________________________________________ news mailing list [email protected] http://lists.canarie.ca/mailman/listinfo/news
