Overview: The corporate optical network represents a new way that large
enterprises are evaluating their networking requirements - taking more
control over their own destiny by investing in their own optical
infrastructure as the backbone for their day-to-day networking and storage
needs.

Although already accepted for enterprise-owned campus networks, the
corporate optical network links multiple campus networks together using
commercially available fiber capacity (often dark fiber). Delivery models
may vary. In some, the enterprise takes on the role of service provider to
build and maintain its own optical network in a "make vs buy-in" decision.
In other instances, a service provider may deliver a custom optical network
managed for a single large customer.

The corporate optical network rationale is that an enterprise can most
readily and cost-effectively extend bandwidth as its needs grow while at the
same time guaranteeing security and availability. Furthermore, the corporate
optical network can deliver much more than basic day-to-day network
connectivity - it can be designed to offer resilience through creating
disaster recovery sites that are linked throughout the network.

This Webinar will look at the trend towards corporate optical networks and
the various types of delivery model being deployed. Using real-life customer
examples, it will examine the business case for these types of networks and
