[In the next month's issue of Broadband Properties
(www.broadbandproperties.com) there will be a feature article by Xittel -
Canada's original and largest customer owned network company. 

Xittel telecommunications inc. (Xittel), is recognized in Canada as well as
internationally for having pioneered customer-empowered fibre optic networks
deployed using a public private partnership deployment model.  In operation
since 1997, Xittel is focused and dedicated almost exclusively to the
creation of successful Community Fibre Network.  

Xittel owns 250 km of fiber optic routes, and it manages close to 1000 km
for public and private customers. Among its partners and customers, Xittel
counts about 100 public and private organizations, such as school boards,
municipalities, and natural resources corporations.

Xittel has now expanded into Fiber to the hone where they  offer 100 Mbps
Internet and Telephony with unlimited long distance and all services
(conference call, voice mail etc) for $75 a month.

They expect to operate and manage more than 100 communities in Quebec,
Ontario and PEI from now to the end of the year. Their model relies on
Canopy Wireless antenna connected through fiber for rural and remote
