A highlight of the meeting was that we agreed to change our regular general meeting schedule to the third Sunday of every month at 7pm. Mark your calendars -- the next one will be Sunday Sept. 15, location TBA. We also talked about doing it potluck-style. Diane's press application URL was given out, which Maria Danielson promptly emailed to everyone. a few days later, printed out copies magically appeared on the dues box. thank you to whoever did that!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The server: all sorts of trouble. lots of problems. got to sort of a stable point but then our hard drive foiled completely. we lost a week of content. things are almost on track. we need a secure server to rely on. we could also talk to other IMC servers (NY, etc). discussion of several possible back-up plans to put into place in the future. For ex: (John) suggestion: creationg a yahoo list to use when server is down.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some folks are going to thre National Grassroots Radio Conference planning Media Democracy Day. leaving friday morning. late thursday. event happens in Calicoon NY. Hannah needs use of a good pointer and copier. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Global INC Conference Day: (Jay): good. very good. people from allover the world; int'l print project, legal issues (in the Netherlands) conflict resolution., evolving topic (?!). not as much translation this time. event was logged. soon we should have all the intros, all discussions. next mtg: 1st sunday of Oct (6th). Rolando volunteered to host next one. Phil (satellite video conference group) can tell us more.</DIV> <DIV>Mike got an email application from satellite team a subscription to getting a satellite grant from Robeson. Beirut group is getting organized. Egypt, Ambazonia (northern Cameroon) IMC up and running. they're English Cameroon who want independence from the French Cameroon. some talk about IMCs taking on sister IMCs from around the world. </DIV> <DIV> Jay continues: as we develop our server capacity, it would be good to help start these new IMCs helpful to the network. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Amy: IMC Financey List hasn't been very busy. global finance list ($46,000) donated specifically to the global network. 2 1/2 online dialogue concensus passed a 3 month-1 year clause that basic procedure for how much time is needed for certain types and amounts of grants. [Controversial stuff, to complicated for me to grasp (oops--getting into diary mode here!)...come to a meeting next time!] </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IMC Budge Report: everybody's in the black but kinda just barely. the reason we have these outstanding accts (Verizon, etc $221) is because we haven't gotten together to discuss strategy. Taxes owed. We need to decide how to raise $$$ for the server. How should we think about funds in relation to the working groups. a lot of our grant writing has been a collected effort.
