Seems that you can't pick up a magazine these days without seeing a starlet--from Paris Hilton to Madonna--wearing one of those sporty red string Kabbalah bracelets. If you believe the Jewish mysticism-loving kabbalists, the item wards off the dreaded "Evil Eye." While that's admirable, Uncle Sam has just rejected a Kabbalah request to trademark its powerful little string:
