Fr.George Quadros needs Govt .appreciations
Fr Quadros has now been invited to help farmers in Sindhurgh ,.Maharashtra.
The Govt and Agricultural Dept has never been able to enthuse farmers to
be productive .The legislations land to the tenants has never taken off as
expeted
Communidade land sold to the tenants at cheap rate did not brig fallow
land under cultivation.In fact the purchase was to profit hugely by
conversions even though it is violative of stattutes
All the schemes with subsidies on inputs havesters ,crop insurance
etc did not encourage farmers .The high costs ,non availability of
labour ,dry irrigation canals ,cattle menance and unremunerative price
dampened initiatives for paddy cultivation
Fr Quadrops entered the scene with mechanised farming of cultivation
transplantation ,drones for spraying pesticides,fertilizers harvesting etc
the economics of cost were slashed appreciably. Farmers cooperatives sprang
up ushering green revolution removing drudgery of labour costs of
operations at affordable price..The movement spread like contagious
disease , making Fr Quadros Paddyman of Goa.most in demand and hereadily
obliged
Suffice it to say that one man was able to do what the Agricultural
Minister and retinue of employees under the Dept could not achieve
The Govt due to its religious bias ignored legitimate recognition to
Fr.Quadros
In fact he should have been felicitated for ushering green revolution in
paddy cultivation , cash crops thus bringing fallow land for 3 decades
plus into productions
It is never late to correct the injustice considering his most valuable
contributions
