# Memories at Best Survive

**Sooner or later all shall depart,**
Leaving dear and near with a broken heart.
Our scent of life forever will not last,
Best archived in the history of the past.

A photo reminds, hanging on the wall;
Anniversaries are occasions to recall.
The depth of feelings and emotions haunt for years three,
Life moves on, our consciousness sets free.

Dear wife, husband, daughter or son,
Natural grieving and mourning fall on everyone.
Monuments, niches and celebrations are a way
To profess sweet memories and respect pay.

In a century, at best, identity may survive;
No means or ways our existence will revive.
Politicians at public cost create an annual show,
To survive in power and position?secrets we know.

Aspirations of god-status some achieve,
Generosity and fame immortality receive.
Our life and works are myths that deceive;
Lasting memory remains a dream we perceive.

Goodness, service and sacrifice should be our quest;
Free of hate, envy and jealousy?forget and forgive the rest.
Strive at all costs to do our best,
To be adored and admired, not as a quest.

Glorification in any way does not matter to the dead;
Relatives and friends alone may feel glad.
That our lives and achievements will inspire,
Secretly and deep inside, living desire and aspire.

**Memories at best survive,**
Like fading echoes that gently arrive.
Yet kindness sown in hearts along life's way
May bloom in silent gratitude someday.

"He [Dr?ze] was also recognised for his advocacy for the National Rural
Employment Guarantee Act and the National Food Security Act."

"Economist Jean Dr?ze was awarded

 the Global Inequality Research Award at the World Inequality Conference
held at the Paris School of Economics on Friday."

"After winning the award, Dr?ze said: 'This recognition is not something I
achieved on my own. All the work I do is in collaboration with people and
collectives working for change.'?

?'India has all possible varieties of inequality ? not only astronomical
economic inequality, but also the caste system, huge gender disparities,
massive disparities in access to education, and so forth,' Dr?ze said. 'The
silver lining is that India also has a rich history of resistance to
inequality. I?ve been very fortunate to be associated with some of these
movements.'?
