"The RSS claim of being a ?cultural organisation? has been one of the most
intensely debated subjects in modern Indian politics."

"The controversy generated by the letter of Karnataka home minister,
Priyank Kharge, addressed to Mohan Bhagwat, sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) could not have come at a worse time for the
organisation.

Kharge?s letter depicts the organisation as one that has chosen to be
outside those very regulatory structures it expects ordinary citizens,
NGOs, and civil society groups to strictly follow.

Kharge?s letter also underscores RSS?s duplicity and this has basis in its
annual reports <https://www.rss.org/pdf/Sarkarywah_Prativedan_2026_Eng.pdf>,
tabled and available publically. In these reports, the RSS shares details
about its strength ? number of shakhas, public rallies and other events
besides mass mobilisation drives of the RSS."
