Hey everyone,

I'm interested in going to listen to Bishop Julian Porteous
talk on Friday 27th Feb. i have included all the details of
the night below, but i think this would be great, because the
topic is so relevant to us.

I'll jsut highlight the bit that really caught my attention:
" the New Evangelisation certainly has nothing to do with
tele-evangelists or a fundamentalist approach to the Bible :)"

I'd love it if people would like to come with me, its cheap
and great fun, alot like the Church Cafe thing that Matty was
involved with. It'll be even more fun if a group of us could
go!

If you interested please reply or let me know and i'll look
to organise it. I can work out lifts for people, if they want
to come but can't/don't drive...

Love Jen

ENCOUNTER, NEXT FRIDAY 27th Feb

Pope’s call to the New Evangelisation
– why it’s new, and its relevance for everyone

For some years now John Paul II has been using the term "the
New Evangelisation". He has been inviting all of us - but
especially young adults - to respond to this call of the Holy
Spirit that has been sweeping through the Church in recent
years - especially since the Jubilee Year of 2000.
For some reason it's the younger generation that has been
especially able to identify this new movement of the Holy
Spirit.

What does the expression the New Evangelisation mean to you?
It certainly has nothing to do with tele-evangelists or a
fundamentalist approach to the Bible :-) The New
Evangelisation is not about a new message - the gospel
message never changes - but it's about expressing
it in a new way which makes it relatable and relevant to us
who live in today's modern world.

How blessed we are to have Bishop Julian Porteous come and
speak to us about the New Evangelisation! One of Bishop
Julian's roles is to oversee the newly formed Office for
Evangelisation and Renewal, so who better to explain it all
to us. Don't miss this night it promises to be a very
special one!
