A partial explanation... Time to spare to GodSquad on the weekend is not the reason that there are problems getting people to do this. Unfortunately on the last weekend, members of GodSquad (who put a lot of time and effort into organising the weekend, some comparable to the amount of time leaders contribute) were treated in a shocking way by parent couples and team. SOME team members were treating GS like their slaves, which does not encourage people to continue being on GS. SOME parents were doing things that made doing the job of GS incredibly difficult, and telling GS to, for example 'wash up after meals', which interferes with their ability to the job of GS which is much more important to the weekend than the dishes being clean. Once again, not giving people a feeling of appreciation for the time that they were giving to the weekend. ANYONE in the community could be the GS leader. Organise themes for the meals, put out share group questions, sort palancas, organise talk rooms etc. It runs off the timetable for the weekend. There are even little instructions that say what you should be doing at a given point in time. So... surely there are team who could do this... but maybe as I suggested in the first place, TALK TO PEOPLE IN PERSON AND NOT OVER EMAIL AND YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO SORT OUT SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS! ---- Original message ---- >Date: Wed, 10 Mar 2004 10:59:08 +1100 >From: Jenni Louise Downes <jld84-bHIVYo8c//[email protected]> >Subject: Re: [A List] Attention God Squad! >To: [email protected] > >dear fi and all others who are possible candidates for >godsquad, > >i could be wrong, but i think this is the first time in a >long time, that we ahve not had people easily offer their >time to be aprt of godsquad. therefore things will obviously >be done differnelty than in the apst. > >there is no-one left in the community who has had a lot of >experience with godsquad, or knows everything that has to be >done. in the past, godsquad leader is an older member of the >community, who has stepped back from being on team due to >their length of time in community. this person has usually >godsquadded on a number of weekends before. > >i can't see that it would be a good idea to make someone >godsquad leader that doesn't know whats going on. > >it seems to have come to a point where none of the recently >ex-members of antioch have the time to spare to make godsquad >run in the way it has in the past. hence mary and gats are >looking at a new way of doing things. perhaps in the past >godsquad issues were worked out by the parents and not by >leaders, but things are changing. now things that leaders >used to do are ebing done by general team, things that robbie >used to do are now mostly going to be done by team, and >obviously the leaders are doing some things that they didn't >use to do. > >i'm pretty sure that msot of the people who are good >candidates for godquad (ie recent ex-member of comunity) have >expressed that they can't commit to the whole weekend. >therefore mary was simply trying to see who was willing and >available. i am not sure that i can see why email is not a >good choice. if you don't want others to see what you write >then simply reply to mary only. if you WANT to godsquad but >have other commitments, it is easy to say, i amworking >saturday morning and sunday afternoon, so i can be there >saturday afternoon and sunday mroning, or if you think you >will be working but not sure when, you can say like amtty b. >did, i will be there when i'm not working. > >if for whatever reason you don't want to godsquad then it is >also very easy to say: i'd don't want to. i must admit i >would be sad to know that anyone would say this. > >by the way several people from outside the communtiy have >been approached and have specified which times they'll be >able to be there, and i'm sure we'll be offering invitations >to other communities as well. however there is no point >having people from other communities here who don't know >what's gonig on, unless there are also people who have >experience in godsquadding at engadine. > >Love Jen > >P.s. sorry for the atrocious typos, but i ahve mroe important >stuff to do than go back and fix them all up =) > > >We are given: >the hands of Christ to work with, >the heart of Christ to love with, and >the mind of Christ to illumiante the world... > > > > >If you want to unsubscribe do not send me emails JUST LOOK AT THE LINK and do it yourself, send an email to: >godisinengadine-unsubscribe-VgYJa0VH1e9BDgjK7y7TUQ@public.gmane.org > > >Yahoo!
