I havent read this article yet. However, I did read his 
article on progressive Islam. I didn't like it. He confuses 
'progressive' with 'moderate' with 'liberal' and gets some 
strange meaning out of the mix. And while he did say 
that the article was about SE Asia, nevertheless... much 
of what he called progressive Islam I didn't recognise as 
being part of the discourse of this phenomenon that I've 
been engaging with. Certainly the notion of it being a 
government-driven programme, focussing on 
developmental issues but ignoring demcracy and human 
rights sounds... weird.

ps: I'm not going to WSF anymore. Nevertheless Talib, 
look out fo the South Africans. We have some kick-ass 
social movements here and my comrades from the Anti-
War Coalition, Anti-privatisation forum, Palestine 
solidarity committee, freedom of expression institute, 
landless peoples movement, jubilee South Africa, etc will 
be there. Enjoy!
