She is doing everything she can to fight Israeli efforts to deport her. There were others (foreigners and Palestinians) arrested along with her but her case is a little bit more "complicated" in Israel because Kate happens to be Jewish :-) If you don't know Kate, she is a member of the human rights group QUIT (Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism.) In 2002, the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) featured her in the "Caught in the Backlash" report. After 9/11, the FBI harrassed her ... wanting to know whom she "knew in the middle east." In other words, they wanted to know if this anti-Zionist Jewish lesbian had any Muslim fundmentalist friends. In Israel, Kate is one of the "dark" Jews-- the kind of Jews that the Israeli Govt doesn't really want to have in Israel. She works tirelessly with sane Israelis, to show them the abuses of Israel. When she was arrested, she was videotapping Israeli abuses. If you would like to do something about this, call the Israeli consulate near you.
