salam,

the problem with irshad manji is that she equates traditional islam with islam. hence, the way the traditional muslims translated verses (anti-semitic ways, anti-women ways, etc) are apparently the way islam is. it is a really sad trend by 'liberated' muslims who leave traditional islam.

there was another muslim woman by the name of ayaan hirsi in the netherlands... who became a pm over there. she was attacking islam... while her criticism was actually against sunnism.

while i definitely support any muslim who thinks out of the box and has a brain of their own, it is sad when people equate traditional islam with islam, as if sufi muslims, progressives, etc, all who existed as close to as long as the traditional ones themselves, are not muslims :(
