actually, this is a "sahih" hadith from bukhari. check it out. volume 4, book 55, number 547, abu hurairah reports that the prophet said: "were it not for bani isra'el, meat would decay. and were it not for eve, wives would never betray their husbands." so, meat decays because of jews... and women who betray husbands are apparently "following" eve's "footsteps."

i would like to point out that in the qur'an, nothing of the kind is mentioned in the story of adam and eve. they are both equally held responsible... and both are equally blamed.

and there are other horrible, horrible hadiths that depict women as these wicked little things. for example, there is another "sahih" hadith which talks about how most of hell's folk are women :( ... and one that invalidates salats if a black dog, a donkey or a woman go in front of your prayers. so, in other words... women are hella hella hellish whackos... okay, i won't comment on the last part. :-P

it is really sad because there are millions of muslims out there who do believe these are sahih/authentic narrations :(
