Islamic Feminism - more questions

hope all the biradurs and seesturs and chillruns are doing well.
 
thank you to all that have responded and commented. but more question times:
 
1. i believe biradur Abdul Aleem had recommended seestur Elizabeth Fernea's 
atikul. Does 
anyone else seem to sense a bit of exoticism in her writings? or is it just 
extra effort 
to counter the negative orientalist ideas of muslim/arab women?
 
2. Gender. Biradur Abdul Hakim Murad's atikuls seem to accept innate 
differences between 
men and women (although i dont get the impression he is suggesting that we are 
limited by 
them).  Is it possible to acheive equality or equity while seeing men and women 
as equal 
but generally different? do rights, responsibilites, and roles (though 
flexible) 
follow/stem from this? How do the seesturs feel about the view of men and women 
presented by 
seestur Murata in The Tao of Islam?
 
I apologize for the list of questions. i am engaged in a discussion with a 
western 
feminst academic. and my access to books ($) has been limited for a couple of 
years so im 
limited to atikuls i can find online and a a couple of books i have at home.
 
any comments, refernces, views and atikuls would be helpful too.
